Occulomotor Nerve (III)
Extraocular eye muscles, reflexive constriction of pupil.
Trochlear Nerve (IV)
Extraocular eye muscles, depression, adduction of the eye.
Trigeminal Nerve (V)
Light touch, pain & temperature to the face, mouth, general sensation, anterior ⅔ tongue & teeth. Muscles of jaw for chewing & speech.
Abducens Nerve (VI)
Extraocular eye muscles.
Facial Nerve (VII)
Sensation from ear, taste anterior ⅔ tongue. Muscles of facial expression (lips), salivary glands.
Vestibulocochlear Nerve (VIII)
Hearing, vestibular function & balance.
Glossopharyngeal (IX)
Taste posterior ⅓ tongue, general sensation posterior ⅓ tongue, palate & oropharynx, gag reflex. Stylopharyngesus muscle - contributes to swallowing, parotid, salivary gland (autonomic).
Vagus Nerve (X)
General sensation from pharynx, larynx, taste, epiglottis & pharynx.
Accessory Nerve (XI)
Head/shoulder muscles.
Hypoglossal Nerve (XII)
Tongue movement.
