- exit through cribiform foramen
- damage causes anosmia (loss of smell)

- sensory: vision
- exits through optic canal/cross over at optic chiasma
- damage causes anopsias (blindness)

A

Oculomotor
- motor: moves eye up, down, and medially
moves eyelid & constricts iris
- damage cause lateral strabismus (lazy eye)
- damage causes ptosis (eyelid droop)

- Motor: moves eye down and out (diagonally)
- Damage causes diplopia (double vision)
- exits through superior orbital fissure

- Sensory: face sensation, corneal reflex
- Motor: mastication
- Damage causes trigeminal neuralgia (intense pain with jaw movement)
— Divisions: ophthalmic, maxillary, and mandibular

- Sensory: anterior 2/3 taste on the tongue
- exits through: Internal acoustic meatus and stylomastoid foramen
- 5 divisions: Temporal, zygomatic, buccal, mandibular, cervical

- exits through internal acoustic meatus
- damage causes deafness and vertigo

A

Glossopharyngeal
- Motor: swallowing (pharynx/esophagus) and tongue movement
- Sensory: taste (posterior 1/3 of tongue)
- on Medulla and leaves through jugular foramen
- Check through gag/swallowing reflex, position of uvula
- Damage: can’t swallow (dysphagia)
