A
-Increased Inner Cranial Pressures
-Head injury
-Aged, confused or anxious patient who do not
-Acute Spinal Cord injury
-Unstable Neck Injury
-Uncontrolled Hypertension
-Hemodynamic Instability
-Pulmonary Edema and Associated CHF
-Active hemoptysis –Absolute
-Uncontrolled Airway at risk for aspiration
Recent meals
Tube feedings
-Large Pleural Effusion
-Empyema -Infected Pleural Space
-Rib fracture, flail chest
-Surgical wound/Burn on the chest wall
Distended Abdomen

Hazards/Complications of CPT
A
- Hypoxemia
- If diseased lung is placed in dependent position
- Cardiac output lower/hypotension
- Pain
- Vomiting and Aspiration
- Bronchospasm
- Dysrhythmias

Contraindications to Percussion, Vibration and Chest wall manipulation
A
- Skin abnormalities
- burns, skin graft, flaps, wounds, open infections
- Recent pacemaker insertions
- Osteomyelitis
- Osteoporosis
- Coagulopathy – bleeding disorder

- Hypotension
- Recent Procedures in which raising head is contraindicated
- Certain Intracranial Surgeries
- Femoral Vascular Access
- Heart Cath/Aortic balloon pump Min 20 degrees
- Intra-aortic balloon pumping
