Cpr Flashcards
What is choking
When a person’s airway is blocked by food
What is an AED
Automated External Defiblerator
Restarts someone’s heart. This is called deliberation
Nitroglycerin
To provide help with chest pain
NEVER FOR STROKES
CPR
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Pushing on someone’s chest where the heart is located to keep the heart beating manually. Also, give mouth-to-mouth if comfortable and/or needed
Cardiac Arrest
When the heart stops beating
What are the 4 R’s (in order)
risk, recognize, react, resuscitate
What is the chain of survival
Healthy choices, early recognition, early access, early cpr, early defileration, early advanced care, early rehabilitation
What is a heart attack?
Aka: myocardial infarction
Irregular beating, caused by an artery being clogged. If blockage opens up a bit, it’s called Angina.
What are some Risk factors
• high cholesterol
• smoking
• high blood pressure
• lack of exercise
• stress
Recognize: what are the 5 P’s
Pain
Pale
Puffing
Pooped
Puking
What is FAST (used for strokes)
F face: is it drooping
A arms: can you hold them up
S speech: is it slurred
T time: Time to call 911
What is PLT
Position
Loosen clothing
Talk to the person
Resuscitation (CPR): what is the 1st step
Say “I’ve been trained, I can do this”
Steps for CPR (in order) (Heart attack)
- Say “I’ve been trained, I can do this”
- check for hazards
(no fire, no wire, no gas, no glass, no harm to me or the victim) - introduce urself (be specific)
- ask if u can help them (yes)
- say ur going to loosen clothing
- if they fell unconscious, check hazards again
- ask someone to call 911/get AED and come back
- ask if they’re awake, okay, or have any nitroglycerin/asprin
- landmark
-start compressions (30)
-mouth to mouth (lift chin, plug nose, 2 breaths) - repeat until AED
- listen to instructions
- unzip clothing
- shave if any hair and wipe
- pad 1 on chest, pad 2 on hip
- “I’m clear, your clear, were all ckear”
- “shock being initiated” and “shock initiated”
- continue compressions and breaths until help arrives
-if becomes conscious, put in recovery position
Steps for: Choking
Say I’ve been trained I can do this
Check for dangers around
Introduce yourself and ask for permission to help
Ask them to cough as much as they can
If doesn’t work, say you are going to perform abdominal thrust
If they pass out, check for hazards again
Ask someone to call 911/get AED
Ask if awake
Open their mouth to check for item in mouth (DONT SCOOP)
Do CPR steps
Do until help arrives
