Fentanyl Indications (5 = C-shns)
A
Analgesia: Use if: CSHNS
- Contraindication to Morphine
- Short duration of action required
- Hypotension
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Severe headache
Sedation & CPR interfering patient

- Hypersensitivity
- Late 2nd stage labour

Pts on monoamine oxidase inhibitors
Rhinitis / facial trauma
Impaired hepatic function
Current Asthma
Known addiction to opioids
Elderly/frail patients
Respiratory depression

Fentanyl Presentation
A
100mcg in 2ml glass ampoule
250mcg in 1ml glass ampoule or cartridge (IN use only)

Fentanyl Dosage
A
IN: 200mcg (repeat up to 50mcg at 5 min intervals)
IV: 50mcg at 5 minute intervals
