I read the CBRE UK Mid Year Market Outlook 2024 and learnt that whilst investment volumes hit a record low, the improving economic backdrop after the election should buoy occupiers and investment activity.

Attended a workshop where I learnt about a new tool that has been developed and can identify sites which are suitable for EV charging development.

I learnt that investment volumes remain weak, that a majority of people believe we are in a property cycle upturn, and that 61% of participants in the webinar forecast that we will see opportunities and challenges in for the remainder of 2024.

Learnt about the importance of understanding the client’s objectives before providing real estate consultancy advice, and the role of SWOT, RAG, and PESTLE analysis in weighing up options.

I attended a workshop on valuation where I learnt about the different investment method types and when to use them.
1 February 2024 - RICS Sustainability Report
I read the report which highlighted the importance of real estate’s role in achieving net zero. It also highlighted that occupation demand and investor demand for green properties is increasing. But at present investment volumes in more sustainable properties are not rising as much as high initial costs and worries about return on investment are prohibitive.

Highlighted the opportunity of AI in facilities management, Paris’ first zero-carbon neighbourhood, and that real state must continue to embrace ESG improvements.

VPS 4 - Bases of value, assumptions and special assumptions.
Valuers must ensure that the basis of value is appropriate and included in ToE.
