What is natural capital?
The stock of natural assets which include geology, soil, air, water
What is the lump sum exit scheme?
A scheme for bps applicants which ended on 30th September 2022.
The scheme allowed those wishing to exit the industry to receive their bps payment in a lump sum
What are the General binding Rules?
They are rules for small sewage discharges and put in place certain rules that landlords need to comply with
What is the woodland carbon guarantee?
A scheme that provides money for landowners who sell carbon to the government, by way of tree planting
What are car charging opportunities for landowners?
This was from someone inside the firm who had been involved with granting a lease for car chargers to a provider. It brought an annual rent.
What is a s.31(6) application?
s.31(6) is a landowner statement under s.31(6) of the Highways Act 1980 which confirms all rights of way over that persons land
What is biodiversity net gain?
An approach to development that aims to leave the natural environment in a measurably better state than it was beforehand
What does the Environment Act do?
The Environment Act 2021 aims to improve air and water quality and protect wildlife, by:
- 10% BNG gain from 2023 for new development
- Have an Environment Improvement Plan
When did the General Binding Rules come into effect?
It was supposed to be January 2020, but the Environment Agency put in place an extension to October 2020 because of the pandemic
