Describe how the structure of the heart can be related to its function by doing a dissection

A

The heart has its own blood vessels - coronary arteries + veins. Can be seen branching over surface

Water run into pulmonary vein will emerge from aorta. Shows seperated into 2 halves internally

When cut, left + right ventricles are very different in thickness. Due to their different roles

Inside, atrioventricular valves that stop backflow from ventricles to atria + semilunar valves that stop backflow from arteries to heart can be seen

Tendons (heart strings) can be seen attached to atrioventicular valves. Stop valves turning inside out
