16
Q

what is antibiotic associated diarrhoea

A

antibiotic caused disruption of guy microflora

17
Q

what are some of the symptoms for antibiotic associated diarrhoea

A

mild diarrhoea to pseudomembranous colitis including toxic megacolon, perforation, shock

18
Q

what are some of the common organism which causes antibiotic associated diarrhoea

A

C.diff, C. perfringens, S, aureas, Candida spp, Klebsiella spp, Salmonella spp

19
Q

why does antibiotic might make gastroenteritis worse

A

it is because organism causing gastroenteritis produce toxins and so antibiotics will kill and hence release a large amount of toxins and can cause even worse problems

20
Q

what causes C.Diff infection?

A

broad spectrum antibiotics

21
Q

which specific drugs are high risk for causing C.Diff Infection

A

cephalosporins, clindamycin

22
Q

what is the treatment for C.Diff infection

A

oral metronidazole/oral vancomycin, oral fidaxomicin (3-5 days until diarrhoea resolve)
