Causes

A

Pre-natal (most common) : Antenatal infections, congenital malformations, fetal asphyxia

Natal : birth asphyxia, birth trauma

Post-natal : Meningitis, head trauma, hyperbilirubnemia, hypoglycemia

Spastic CP

A

Pyramidal tract lesion (UMNL) signs.
Pseudobulbar palsy : feeding and speech disorders.
Spastic diplegia (most common subtype) associated with prematurity due to periventricular leucomalacia which can be showed by MRI .
Spastic hemiplegia is associated with neonatal stroke.

A

Extrapyramidal palsy.
Chorea, athetosis, dystonia.
Due to kernictrus.

A

Due to cerbellar injury.
Hypotonia and hyporeflexia.
Cerbellar ataxic : incoordination of voluntary movements, nystagmus, staccato speech, intention tremors.
