Covidien Mesh Portfolio Flashcards
What is our biologic mesh offering? Describe its design.
Permacol is a biologic implant derived from porcine dermal collagen, for abdominal wall repair. Collagen is optimally cross-linked for strength and durability in complex repairs.
What are our polypropylene meshes?
Surgipro and Parietene, in several configurations as both non-absorbable and composite.
What’s the name of our polyester mesh? What is its latest design called?
PCO to PCOx, as well as recently Symbotex.
What is the structural difference between PCOx and Symbotex’s PET?
Both are PET, but PCOx is multifilament, while SYM is monofilament – trends are going toward mono.
What are our PET barrier meshes called?
Parietex Composite and Symbotex.
What is the composition of our visceral-side absorbable barrier today?
It’s a hydrogel made of porcine collagen + glycerol (used to include PEG but we removed it with PCOx)
What feature & code do we add to our ventral meshes specifically for open repairs?
Open-skirt for fixation
What material are PCOVP’s expanders made of?
PGLA (polyglycolic lactic acid)
What are Progrip’s resorbable microgrips made of, and what is the absorption profile?
PLA (polylactic acid), absorb fully in 18 months
Progrip: what size pores?
1.1mm x 1.7mm
Progrip’s microgrips: how long are they, are they sharp, and what do they attach to?
They’re 1mm long and totally atraumatic – shaped like mushrooms, and penetrate muscle tissue.
What hernia product is code TEM?
Progrip.
Progrip: what is density before and after absorption of microgrips?
74 –> 38 g/m2
