Hears complex cases regarding bankruptcy, workplace law, human rights.
Hears appeals from federal circuit and family court.
high court
hears cases involving the constitution, disputes between federal and state government, final court of appeal within Australia.
general jurisdiction
can hear a variety of cases
specific jurisdiction
can only hear specific cases (eg. children’s court)
original jurisdiction
the power of a court to hear cases for the first time
appellate jurisdiction
refers to the power of a court to hear appeals.
