15
Q

PULMONARY CIRCULATION (ORDER)

A
  • Right heart receives DEOXYGENATED blood from systemic circulation,
  • Passes through right atrium, through TV into RV, through pulmonic valve into pulmonary artery.
  • Travels through lungs - becomes OXYGENATED
  • Returns to left heart through FOUR pulmonic veins

16
Q

PULMONARY CAPILLARIES

A
  • Deoxygenated blood pumped to capillaries in lungs

- Carbon dioxide is removed from blood

17
Q

Exhaled with breathing

A

carbon dioxide

18
Q

Inhaled with breathing

A

oxygen - to be transported by blood throughout the body

19
Q

Systemic circulation is composed of:

A
  • A PUMP (LT VENTRICLE)
  • AORTA AND ARTERIAL BRANCHES
  • SYSTEMIC CAPILLARY NETWORK
  • CEREBRAL, PERIPHERAL & ABDOMINAL VEINS
  • SUPERIOR AND INFERIOR VENA CAVA
20
Q

SYSTEMIC CIRCULATION (ORDER)

A
  • Left heart receives OXYGENATED blood from pulmonary circulation
  • Blood enters Lt atrium through FOUR pulmonary veins
  • Through MV into LV
  • Contraction of LV through AoV into Aorta - travels to body’s organs and systems
  • Capillary networks in tissues and organs - exchange of gases and nutrients - oxygen used by body
  • Deoxygenated blood returned to Rt Atrium via SVC & IVC
