What is a SMART question? (Define the acronym) And what does ensuring fairness in a question do?
Simple, Action-oriented, Relevant, Time-Bound
Fairness is ensuring that your questions don’t reinforce bias
What is Quantitative vs Qualitative, and what is their relationship?
Quantitative is measurable numbers, or the what, and qualitative provides a context to that data, or a why.
Name the 3 types of dashboards, and what they are used for
Strategic(long term), Operational (short term), Analytical (consists of datasets)
What is a report?
A report is a static collection of data given to stakeholders periodically.
What is a Dashboard?
Monitors live, and incoming data
What is small data?
Specific, short-time period data that is helpful for day-to-day decisions but less useful for business decisions.
What is Big data?
Large and less-specific over a long-term period. its used for large scale questions and problems, and help make big decisions
What are the v words for big data?
Volume - how much
Variety - the different kinds Velocity - how fast can we process
Veracity - the quality and reliability of the data
What is structured thinking?
The process of recognizing the current problem or situation, organizing available information, revealing gaps and opportunities, and identifying the options.
What are you mainly including in a scope of work?
Deliverables, timeline, milestones, reports
What questions can we ask to gain context for the data?
Who - is the person or org that created, collected and or funded the data collection
What - the things in the world that data would have an impact on
Where - the origin of the data
When - the time when the data was created or collected
How - the method used to create or collect it
Why - the motivation behind the creation or collection
What are 3 types of stakeholders youll work with?
Executive, customer-facing, and data science team
How can we work effectively with stakeholders?
Discuss goals, feel empowered to say no, plan for the unexpected, know your project, start with words and visuals, communicate often
What three questions should you start with at the beginning of any project?
Who are the primary and secondary stakeholders? Who is managing the data? Where can you go to for help?
