Define Combes
Combes cut the cotes. They are dry transverse vallkeys, carved during the last ice age by melted water and erosion. Today they serve as conduits for cool breezes and hail. Thousands of years of erosion deposited deep alluvial fans of pebbles and stone at the mouth of the combes, diversifying soil makeup.
