Style is generally full bodied and tannic, however soil variations can make big difference
Mainly eastern exposure
Has 2 main soil types : terre blanches -lighter in colour and has follisilzed oyster shells
Terre rouges: heavier with more clay (MSD part)
Sometimes counted as 2 GCs but not for labelling regs!

A

Area set pre AOC system, 1929
Name comes from now extinct family that was member of court of dukes of Burgundy
Have steep gradient with good drainage, high chalk limestone content, creates style of elegance and power, ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’

One of only 2 burg GCs to produce both red and white
Side note: white Musigny, the de Vogue family planted .66 ha of chard
