- Removes headscarf - loss of hope and innocence (foreshadowing, symbolism).

White and linen to keep him cool in the fields, no individuality

- Wide leg - space to move (farmer, heat).
- Dirty green cotton - he is linked to nature but in a poisonous way.
- Neat patches on knees to show Yerma caring for him.

The Washerwomen

- They all wear white linen shirts of varying designs.
- The older ones wear shawls, the younger ones are less likely to cover their heads.
- The majority wear aprons.
