What are cost objects/cost objectives?
Resources or activities that serve as the basis for management decisions. Cost objects require separate cost measurment
What is product cost?
These are all the costs related to the manufacture of the product.. These costs can be attached to the units of output.
What does a product cost consist of?
DM, DL and MOH
What are period costs?
These are expensed in the period in which they are incurred and not inventoriable
What does period costs consist of?
These are the costs of selling the product and administering and managing the operations of the firm
What are manufacturing costs?
These are the costs consistent of both direct and indirect costs associated with the manufacture of a product
What are prime costs?
DL + DM
What are conversion costs?
DL + MOH
When is job costing used?
When the cost object is a custom-order
When is process costing used?
When the cost object is mass-produced
