Cost Accounting Flashcards

Q

Activity based-costing

A

Activity-based costing breaks the process down into individual activities and determines a specific overhead cost driver for each of these activities. In that way, the costing is designed specifically for the process in use. Overhead for one activity might be applied based on machine hours if that is appropriate to the activity whereas overhead for another activity might be applied based on direct labor cost if that is appropriate.
