Corries Flashcards

1
Q

First stage in the formation of corries

A

Snow builds up in a hollow high
up on the north face of
mountain sides. A year later a

The ice moves under its own
weight in a circular way called

Q

Fourth stage in the formation of corries

A

The mountain top is weathered
by freeze-thaw. Persistent
freezing and melting breaks

the ice

Q

Fith stage in formation of corries

A

Erosion on the back wall is
caused by plucking. Water
freezes and pulls off rock. It
develops a vertical shaped,
jagged appearance

Q

Sixth stage of the formations of corries

A

Rocks that have fallen into the
glacier ice scrape away the

Q

Seventh stage in a formation of a corrie

A

There is less erosion at the
front of the corrie as the ice is
thinner so a lip or rock bar
forms. Also moraines are
deposited here
