Correlation
looks for relationships between two variables
Positive Correlation
relationship between two variables - where as one variable increases, the other also increases (VICE VERSA)
Negative Correlation
relationship between two variables - where as one variable increases the other decreases
What is the term used when two variables are unrelated?
No correlation
A correlation co-efficient refers to a number between x and y.
1 and -1
What is the correlations statistical test?
Spearman’s Rho
What must the observed value be in relation to the critical value?
Greater than or equal to the critical value
What graph can be used to demonstrate a correlation?
Scattergraph
Name a strength of correlations
It can identify a link between the two variables that can then be assessed further
Name a weakness of correlations
You cannot identify cause and effect relationships (may have variables that may affect the results)
