Correlation Flashcards
1
Q
Pearson’s product-moment correlation
A
Used to assess the strength of a linear relationship between two variables.
Two data sets into two lists (pretty sure)
Strong negative correlation: r = -1
No correlation: r = 0
Strong positive correlation: r = -1
2
Q
Spearman’s correlation rank coefficient
A
Used to assess the strength of a monotonic (linear or non-linear) relationship between two variables.
Rank numbers from 1-x, make sure sets match (ie top-rated book will match with the highest number for pages in each book)
Strong negative correlation: rₛ = -1
No correlation: rₛ = 0
Strong positive correlation: rₛ = -1
