Corpus Linguistics - PROF. PAUL BAKER Flashcards
What is a corpus?
Advanced digital computer software that records language - used to identify linguistics trends humans would not be able to see on their own

Occupational Influence
Men more likely to say council, settlement, per cent
Women - baby, mummy, kitchen
PRAGMATICS DUE TO OCCUPATION
ASDA e.g.
2012 - “Behind every great Christmas, there’s a mum” - called out by public
