A police employee whom finds a body, or is notified to the presence of a body, must report the death to the coroner immediately.

If a death has been reported to the coroner, police must:
a) complete all investigations to help achieve the overarching purpose of the act (to help prevent avoidable deaths), or
b) any actions directed by the responsibel coroner.
