Coronary Artery Flashcards
Right coronary artery
Origin
anterior aortic sinus of ascending aorta.
Course
1 first passes forwards
Between pulmonary trunk and the right auricle.
Course
2 It passes vertically downwards in the atrio-ventricular groove.
Course
Runs backwards
Reach posterior inter-
ventricular groove.
Terminate
anastomosing with the circumflex
branch of left coronary artery
Branches of RCA
Right conus artery SA nodal artery Right marginal artery Posterior inter-ventricular branch Arterial branches Ventricular branches
Right conus artery
It forms arterial circle around pulmonary trunk
Circle is called ”annulus of
Vieussens”.
Atrial branches
Branches are anterior posterior and lateral
SA nodal branch
arises from right coronary artery in 60%
cases.
Ventricular branches
anterior and posterior
Area of distribution
Right atrium
Ventricles
Greater part of rv
Small part of lv
Whole of the conducting system
Except left branch of AV bundle
left coronary artery
Origin
left posterior aortic sinus of ascending aorta.
Course
1 first run between
pulmonary trunk and the left auricle
Here it gives anterior interventricular
branch
