Conflict of Corfu
Border war between Greece and Albania
27th August general killed in survey of islands (by terrorists)
29th Mussolini demanded compensation but Greece has no ideas
(probably Mussolini wanting capital)

31st Mussolini attacked the island Corfu - 15 died
Greece Response
After Mussolini attack Greece appealed to the League
The league did nothing Greece should play the money to the league to hold
Britain + France Ambitions
Britain- wanted to force Mussolini out but only if France support
France- France supported Italy and did give any forces .
(Forces in the Ruhr)
Result
Mussolini got his way despite the Italian commissioner being the only one for him (Greeks payed)
27th Mussolini withdrew forces and showed the League weakness and lack of power
Public Response
Huge amount of the public lost faith in the league
Abyssinian crisis furthered the Leagues loss of public support (BRITAN and FRANCE not together)
Bulgaria
1925 Greek troops invaded Bulgaria and Greece soldiers killed
Britain and France solidly backed the league and acted quickly
Sided with Bulgaria and Greece had to pay 45,000
Greece complained of the decision being one-sided

1924- Corfu showed that the league has to be united (tried)
Geneva protocol meaning
If two members had a dispute they would have to consult the League
This would hopeful strengthen the league
The Geneva Backfire
The conservative government was elected in Britain and they didn’t sign the agreement
This weaken the league as its own members couldn’t come to a decision on there own actions
