Q

How to form French questions

You want a beer. vs. Do you want a beer?

A
  1. Same as sentence but change intonation. Tu veux une bière (?)
  2. Est-ce que. Add this to the beginning of the sentence. Est-ce que tu veux une bière? (More proper)
  3. Switch the subject and verb, and then add a hyphen. Veux-tu une bière? As-tu déjà mangé?

Has she already eaten?
(Don’t use this construction with Je, except with devoir, pouvoir, être, and sometimes avoir.
-one exception: with this form, say puis-je venir? instead of peux-je venir?

A-t-elle déjà mangé?
(If the verb ends in -a or -e, at a “t” with a hyphen.
