What are the primary muscles if the core?
Diaphragm Multifidus Transversus Abdominis Rectus Abdominis Internal and External Obliques Back Extensors Pelvic Floor
What does a strong core do?
Solidifies a platform from which forces are transmitted between the upper and lower body.
What is the core made up of?
The stabilizers.
What is the core sometimes called?
The Powerhouse. Or the body’s natural corset.
Why is the core so important?
It is the supporting structure of your body.
The abdominal and back muscles together with the diaphragm and the pelvic floor, create a cylinder of muscular support in the Centre of the body.
What must stay activated at all times during Pilates? Why?
The core muscles or “Powerhouse”
It is more efficient and safer.
What comes first…
Mobilise or stabilise
Stabilise then mobilise
