What is intellectual Property?
The idea of intellectual property is that you own anything you have created using your mind.
Give five examples of work to which intellectual property may be applied.
Intellectual property applies to written work, images and artwork, music, plans and designs and software
What is the purpose of intellectual property rights?
Intellectual property rights protect the creator of a piece of work from having their ideas stolen or misused by another person. You can only use another person’s work with their permission.
What does copyright mean?
Copyright means that only you have the right to copy your work and others need your permission.
What is a trade mark?
A trade mark protects a company logo.
What is a patent?
A patent is used to protect a new invention

Content comes with a license which tells you exactly what you are allowed to do with the work.
What is citation?
Citation is referencing or giving credit to another person’s content which you have used in your work.
What information should be included in a citation?
The name of the creator
The title of the content
The web page from which you sourced the content
The web address for the page
The date the information was written or updated
What license is required to use music, images and video?
A creative content license
