Coaxial Cables
Center core with metallic shield/plastic jacket on it, RG-6 Cable company to connect their service to your home
RG-59 Once inside your home carry composite video between two nearby devices or connect an outlet to a cable modem (most common)

Twisted Pair Copper Cabling
8 wires, twisted into pairs of 2 making. The more twists you have the better protection that cable has from electromagnetic interference or EMI
UTP Unshielded Twisted Pair: very common cheap
STP Shielded Twisted Pair

RJ45: plastic 8 pin connector/ most common
RJ11: plastic 6 pin connector only use 2 of them commonly find them in the phone systems
Registered Jack (RJ)
Used to carry voice or data which specifies the standards a device needs to meet to connect to the phone or data network RJ11 RJ45

Theoretical measure of how much data could be transferred from a source to its destination
