A

A long-term, progressive disease of the lung that primarily causes shortness of breath through the alveolar destruction.

Signs and symptoms of emphysema ?

A

Easily fatigued.
Frequent respiratory infections.
Use of accessory muscles to breath.
Orthopneic.
Cor pulmonale.
Thin in appearance.

A

Wheezing
Pursed lip breathing
Chronic cough
Barrel chest
Dyspnea
Prolonged expiratory time.
Increased sputum.

Treatment for COPD

A

Nebuliser - 6 minutes at a time.
Ipatropium bromide.
Oxygen (88-92%).
Steroids (hydrocortisone)
Monitor capanography.
