coordination Flashcards
What are the main coordination systems in the human body?
The nervous system and the endocrine (hormonal) system work together to maintain homeostasis and coordinate body functions.
How does the nervous system help maintain homeostasis?
provides quick responses to changes, such as adjusting heart rate and respiration, allowing immediate adaptation.
What role does the endocrine system play in maintaining homeostasis?
by releasing hormones into the bloodstream, regulating slower but longer-lasting functions like growth, metabolism, and stress response.
How do the nervous and endocrine systems interact?
The hypothalamus in the brain connects the two systems by releasing hormones that control the pituitary gland, which in turn regulates other endocrine glands.
motor nerve/damage
motor nerve is in charge of muscle movement, damage- weakness/paralysis, muscle twitching & atrophy
autonomic nerve/damage
control involuntary, damage- irregular heartbeat, digestive issues, sweating issues
sensory nerve/damage
carry information about touch, temperature and pain to the brain, damage numbness, tingling, loss of reflexes
