Where I worked
I worked right here, in the corner of Markham and Sheppard east. Here I was a sales associate.
What I do
Usually I was stocking, which is when the manager gives me a list of items to get from the back. The back has all the products from all shipments that were recently brought in, and i sélect all the ones in my list. I put everything into a cart and wheel it to the front. Then i put each item in it’s respective location around the store. Sometimes im also told to organize items on an aisle so as to make them look présentable to customers.
Challenges
A huge challenge was what the workload could be sometimes as i rarely got a list under four pages and some asiles had a lot of items making it time consuming to organize them.
What did i improve in
The biggest thing i improved in was dependability. In my usual job I could easily pick all the items, but when I was stocking them in the front there were always a few I couldnt locate, so I left them in the cart. but when I came in the next day, they would still be there. Taught me to get a job I was told to do Done when I realized that if I didn’t do it, none else would and I would just have to do it the Day after.
My Best skill
Id say my Best skill was collaboration. When I was stocking, I would get a long list, usually 6 pages, and consequently my cart would be full like this one. I need to learn to collaborate and ask for help to get it all Done in time.
What should I improved on
I need to improve is accountability. I usually would not have the nerve to own up to mistakes. For example once I was selecting pasta from the back when one of the bags fell on the floor. They were képt at a height so the bag tore open and raw pasta spilled everywhere. I Not proud to say I just collected the pasta under another cart so none could see them. I kind of regrettes that afterwards.
What I liked
Id say the thing i liked most was the avaliability of consistent and timely feedback. On the slide are some of the forms that feedback can take. it helped me improve because it let me know what others think my weaknesses are.
Health and safety
Certain items I would be dealing with on a daily basis like perfumes, shampoo or first aid products had warnings. I had to handle these with Care whenever I was stocking or organizing them on shelves.
Accomplishments
An accomplishment that I felt proud of was when I would succeed in decreasing the amount of time it took me to do my usual job. For some reason I could sélect items from the back Faster than I could restock them in the front, so I set a goal to decrease my time in the back. When I hit that goal I had more time in the front and I could actually finish before I left.
Mentoring
I was usually stocking but once when i was in the back the manager came in with a new kid and Saïd the new kid was going to be stocking in the afternoons or something. So I was mentoring her in how to do it. I got her started pretty soon, and later when I didn’t finish my list she could Pick it up and so the rest for me.
Things important to job success
I think every company should provide workers with ample room to grow, and to create that they need sufficient feedback at least often. There also should be work that is just challenging enough so workers continuously learn, and lastly the work must not be superfluous because then workers won’t have a good work Life balances.
Why its important to call my superviser if I’m going to be away
If I’m away, I should call my supervisor out of responsibility because she likely had set a job aside, thinkkng i would do it. If I don’t show up she has to find someone else to do it which is inconvénient for her.
Things I learned
One thing i learned was the importance of setting efficient and clear goals. One thing i learned about my work is that id like to not continue in the feild, it’s too easy and not for me. One thing i learned about myself was that because my job required observational skills and everyone Saïd I was good at it, my observational skills must be stronger than I thought
Essentiel skills
The most important skills to what I did every day were observational and organizational skills. There were a lot of items in both the front and the back, and you needed to be observant to find an item. I was also told to organize items on shelves.
Have a list of well known companies in finance, generally just banks
Name big banks with complétion
Know Banks in terms of how much money they hold
Tank stuff in tiers, like Banks low mid high tier
