Q

what happens when a fluid is heated? what does it mean? and what is it called?

A

particles gain kinetic energy and spread out, the fluid expands

  • this means that it becomes less dense than the colder fluid around it causing the fluid to try and float over the colder fluid.
  • this is called a convection current
