2
Q
Why must body temperature be kept constant ?
A
- The body has to balance the amount of energy gained ( e.g through respiration) and lost to keep the core body temperature constant.
- There is a thermoregulatory centre in the brain, which contains receptors that are sensitive to the temperature of the blood flowing through the brain.
- The thermoregulatory center also receives impulses from the temperature receptors in the the skin, giving information about skin temperature.
3
Q
What is fore body temperature?
A
The temperature inside your body where your internal
organs are.
4
Q
What happens when body temperature is too high?
A
- Temperature receptors detect that corse body temperature is too high.
- The thermoregulatory center acts as a coordination centre - it receives information from the temperature receptors and trigger the effectors automatically. - e.g the sweat glands produce a response and counteract the change.
