What is your responsibilities as a sergeant to prepare for an controlled use of force?
A
- Make contact with the inmate and attempt to resolve the issue
- Post an officer at the location to monitor the inmate and gain compliance from the inmate through attempts of verbal persuasion
- Assemble an extraction team
- Riot helmet with protective face shield, protective vest, respirator, elbow and shine protectors, gloves, Kevlar neck protector and blood borne pathogen protective suit (7)
- Protective shield.
- Hand held baton, handcuffs and leg restraints.
- Video camera with back up video tape and back batteries

What is the camera operator’s responsibilities prior to the control use of force?
A
The camera operator shall ensure that an accurate date and time is displayed on the recording. Filming shall begin with the camera operator stating their name, rank, date, time, and location of the controlled use of force.
Following the introduction, the camera operator shall continue filming enroute to the scene of the proposed controlled use of force and record the events.
Prior to the application of force, the camera operator should videotape the interior of the cell/area and the inmate’s actions.
