304.4.1 - Shift Supervisor Responsibilites
A
The Shift Sergeant may authorize the use of a control device by selected personnel or members of specialized units who have successfully completed the required training.

A
Officer must weigh the risk of injury to subject against the need to immediately control them.
- Do not target head, neck, groin, spine, heart, kidneys unless officer believes person is imminent threat of serious harm or death

304.6 - Tear Gas
A
- Can only be used to alleviate present risk of serious harm posed by:
a) Riot
b) barricaded subject
c) Hostage situation - only OIC (Sgt, IC, Chief) can authorize
- If used outside of a jail must get approval from mayor or highest elected official
- Prior to any use warning announcement must be made

304.9.1 - Kinetic Energy projectiles - Use
A
Circumstances for deployment include (Not exhaustive):
- Suspect is armed w/weapon and tactical circumstances allow deployment
- Suspect has made threats to harm themselves/others
- Engaged in riotous behavior, throwing dangerous projectiles at others
- PC for violent crime and refusing lawful orders

A
- Distance and angle to target
- Type of munition
- Type and thickness of clothing
- Proximity to others
- Location of subject
- Need for immediate response
- Verbal warning given when feasible
- DO NOT TARGET head/neck intentionally unless poses imminent threat of serious bodily injury/death
