What was the SD
The Nazis gathering agency of the SS. It was also responsible for the security of Hitler and the other top Nazis
What was the Gestapo?
The Nazis secret state police. Its job was to monitor the German population for signs of opposition or resistance to the Nazi party
What was clan responsibility
If a family member was seen as an enemy of the state all family members could be punished
What were peoples courts
Courts ran by Nazi judges. Not free and fair trial.
Number of years you could serve in prison were so high even for the smallest crime (eg 600,000 years)
What is propaganda?
A form of advertising. Its aim is to persuade large numbers of people to thunk what you want them to think and believe what you want them to believe
What is censorship?
Deciding what can and cannot be seen by people and controlling their thoughts
How did Nazis control the newspapers
-all editors had to be aryan
-Daily briefing and Editors Law
-Any newspaper that reported freely would be shut down
-all reporters has to be registered with the Ministry of Propaganda and Enlightenment.
How were radios controlled?
-all radio stations were brought under Nazi control
-peoples receivers were sold cheaply (7/10 people had one)
-loudspeakers were set up in streets,factories and cafes
-all foreign radio broadcasts were banned
