Diaphragm/Cap
A
- dome shaped latex/silicon that covers the cervix
- inserted into the Vagina + spermicidal gel cream (kills Sperms)

Advantages of Diaphragm/Cap
A
- 92% effective if used correctly
- reusable
- can be inserted a few hours before sex (doesn’t interrupt Sex)
- protects against some STI’s

Disadvantages of Diaphragm/Cap
A
- women can have difficulty using them
- can cause UTI (cystitis)

Combined Pill
A
- contains hormones to prevent pregnancy

Advantages of Combined Pill
A
- may help protect against some Cancers
- help women with painful/heavy periods
- does not interrupt sex
- 99% effective if used correctly

Disadvantages of Combined Pill
A
- Needs to be taken regularly at the same time of day
- women can become pregnant if she forgets to take it
- side effects - mood swings, headaches, blood pressure, depression (etc)

Progesterone- only pill
A
- contains only progesterone hormone which prevents pregnancy

Advantages of Progesterone pill
A
- 99% effective
- women who cannot take oestrogen can use it
- does not interrupt sex

Disadvantages of Progesterone Pill
A
- taken every day within a 3 hour period
- side effects - spot-prone skin, tender breasts and irregular periods
- woman can still become pregnant if she forgets to take it
