Continental Drift and seafloor spreading Flashcards
1
Q
Where does continental Drift occur?
A
Occurs at a divergent plate boundary
2
Q
What happens When the seafloor spreads apart along both sides of a mid-ocean ridge,
A
it pushes continents apart. The new material made at the ridge pushes the older rock to the sides. (crust is newest at the center of the ridge). Older crust can melt back into the mantle at subduction zones.
