context on MOTHERHOOD poems Flashcards
Plath exhibits insecurity through her inability to identify with societal expectations of womanhood. Being that her poems are of a Confessional genre, Plath is given licence to a greater degree of authenticity and truth thus creating conflict and insecurity between what she desires and what is expected by society. Within her Motherhood poems, Plath articulates the struggle of being burdened with intersectional identities that bare too much responsibility and are inextricably linked.
EXISTENTIALISM
