Belief asserting that a monarch derived their authority from God and thus any attempt to dispose or murder the king is an attempt on God himself-biggest sin of mankind-. I.e In Shakespeares time, the divine right of kings was an accepted aspect of the monarchy, so it is no surprise that the belief us reflected in much of Shakespeare writing.
