What did the Third Succession Act do?
It confirmed that if Edward died without heirs, the throne would pass to Mary + her heirs, if Mary died without heirs, the throne would pass to Elizabeth + her heirs
What did the Third Succession Act reverse?
it reversed earlier Succession Acts, which excluded both Mary and Elizabeth from the succession, although their legitimacy was not reversed
Why did Henry VIII confirm the Third Succession Act?
his health declined during 1546 + was aware that Edward would come to the throne as a minor, wanted to avoid disputes & ensure peaceful succession
What was Henry VIII’s concern about political stability also apparent through?
his attempts to establish a Regency Council, however events in the last year of his reign undermined this attempt & left a reformist-dominated Council
