Colour histogram intersection –> similarity between two images.

Calculate colour histograms for all frames in video.

Perform histogram intersection for neighbouring frames.

Where intersection is below a certain threshold a possible cut has been detected

High redundancy between consecutive frames - usually very similar
Big difference at cut boundary.
We can reduce the problem of shot cut detection to that of similarity between images(=frames).
