What is a custodian?
A custodian is a person/s that looks after something. The aboriginals look after the land because it is the dwelling place of the ancestor beings.
Why is the land important?
It is an important aspect of kinship, and is often referred to as a parent, “mother” or “My Country”. The Aboriginal people are the custodians of the land, appointed by the ancestor spirits.
What is kinship?
Kinship is the network of relationships that hold a clan together
Why is kinship important in Aboriginal Spirituality?
Kinship is important regarding identity and family. It also identifies your roles within a clan according to Aboriginal Laws.
Is kinship connected to the land?
Kinship is connected to the land because each clan has their traditional tribal lands. This is also important regarding identity
How is ceremonial life connected to the Dreaming?
Ceremonial life is the physical expression of the Dreaming, ceremonial life is the outlet where the dreaming is expressed through song, dance, art and stories.
Do aboriginal people have an obligation to the land?
Yes they do have an obligation to the land. The land is the physical medium through which the dreaming is lived and the dwelling place of the ancestral beings before them.
Is ceremonial life connected to the land?
Ceremonies are performed in Sacred Sites, which are often linked to the ancestor beings which formed the land. Ceremonies are a way of showing respect to the ancestor beings
Is the land important to the dreaming?
The land is central to the dreaming, it links a person to the land, tells people their rights and responsibilities to the land. All these things help a person to see themselves as part of the land.
