CONTACT and NON-CONTACT FORCES Flashcards
a push or pull upon
an object resulting from the
object’s interaction with another
object
Force
TWO MAJOR TYPES OF FORCE
Contact Force
Non -contact Force
Is a force that is applied by
objects in contact with each
Contact Force
acts
on a point of direct contact
between the two objects.
CONTACT FORCE
TYPES OF CONTACT FORCE
Normal Force
Tensional Force
Frictional Force
Air resistance
a force exerted against
the gravitational force present by the
objects touching each other
Normal Force
is the force acting
within an object when it is pulled from
both of its ends.
Tensional Force
is a force exerted by
a surface against the motion of a body
across its surface
Frictional Force
is the force that acts
in the opposite direction to an object
moving through the air. It is also known
as “drag
Air resistance
is a force applied to an object
by another body that is not in
direct
contact
with it
Non contact Force
It comes
into
play
when
objects
do
not have
Physical contact between them or
when a force is applied without
any interaction
Non contact Force
TYPES OF NON CONTACT FORCE
Magnetic Force
Electrostatic Force
Gravitational Force
is the force of
attraction and repulsion resulted by
putting together the end of same poles
or different poles of the magnetic object
Magnetic Force
is the force of
attraction and repulsion between two
electrically charged objects. Like charges
repel each other while unlike charges attract each other
Electrostatic Force
is the force that
pulls objects with masses towards the
center of the earth.
Gravitational Force
