Contact and Non-Contact forces Flashcards
1
Q
What is a force
A
A push or pull that is caused by interacting with an object.
2
Q
What is the difference between vector and scalar quantities
Give examples
A
Vector-Measures Magnitude and Direction eg force acceleration.
Scalar-** Measures Magnitude** and no direction
3
Q
How are vectors presented in a diagram
A
An arrow that represents direction and the length represents magnitude.
4
Q
Give examples of each
What is the difference between contact and non-contact
A
Two objects must be touching for a force to act like friction, tension.
If they do not need to touch they are non-contact. Like magnetism or gravity.
