Boycott
The act of choosing not to purchase from certain brands to deter them from whatever you don’t like. (mistreating workers, harming animals, etc)
GDP
gross domestic product (the amount of money a country or province has before taxes)
What’s a repair cafe?
A place people are giving the resources they need to repair objects instead of replacing them.
Why advertise?
when we see something again and again, we are more likely to choose to spend our $$ on it.
Developed/advanced economy
an economy with more disposable income/gdp
developing/less developed economy
a poorer economy with lower gdp and more poverty
Quality of life
the overall health, happiness and comfort in a group of people
Budget
an amount of money set aside to spend on certain things
planned obsolescence
producing consumer goods that rapidly become obsolete and so require replacing, achieved by frequent changes in design, termination of the supply of spare parts, and the use of non durable materials.
perceived obsolescence
when consumers believe a product is no longer useful or no longer holds value, so they purchase the newer model or upgrade that product
generic products
cheaper products without a brand name or a ton of advertising
minimalism
minimalism means to escape excessive/unnecessary consumerism.
tiny house
a smaller cheaper housing option where you get a tiny space with not as much space for items.
frugalism
careful management of material resources and especially money.
