a summary of a sequence of events in chronological order
What are the questions we ask in learning history?
What happen in the past? When did it happen? How did it happen? Why did it happen? Where did it happen? Who were involved? What were the effects on people and society?
What are sources to learn about the past?
written sources
oral sources
pictorial sources
artefacts
What is a primary source?
Those who were directly involved in the historical events or who witnessed the events
What is a secondary source?
Those who were not directly involved in the events or did not witness the events
How do Historians obtain the information they need?
Look for sources
Ensure that more than one source is used to construct their knowledge of the past
Examine each source carefully
How do Historians test the reliability of their sources?
Check if the source is reliable
Check if the source is consistent
Corroborate the information they obtain from the sources
How could time periods in history be determined?
Prehistoric time is divided according to the materials used to make tools
The past can also be divided according to the rule of different dynasties
