Constitutional Monarchy

A

A system of government with a king or queen as the of state in which the powers of the institution of government are prescribed in the constitution. Head of state is represented by the governor-general and the government is bi-cameral.

  • Citizens elect their representatives
  • Division of powers
  • High court for constitutional disputes
  • Only the people can change the constitution through referendum

A

GG opens and closes parliament and provides royal consent and proclamation of legislation.

GG acts on the advice of the PM provided they fulfil the three conditions. Proclaims regulations. Appoints and dismisses ministers including the PM.
